 "Higher" by Vivien Vee from

The man behind 80's disco artist Vivien Vee was Claudio Simonnetti, famous for his other disco projects such as Kasso, Capricorn, Goblin and Easy Going. Whilst not one of Vee's most famous tunes, the haunting vocals and sombre key changes give this record a real impact. The soundtrack to staring out of a window crying, your aviators hiding the tears....

"When I Let You Down" by M and G from Sensation Records 1985

Although many people tend to chart the decline of italo disco from 1984, this track for me proves that a number of gems in the genre post-date this. Excellent production work from M. Galli, layering synth melody on top of synth melody to create a piece of music that will grab you from the opening chord. I first heard this tune played in a club in Tokyo, and within seconds of it being dropped about 10 people (including myself) gravitated towards the DJ to find out identity of this italo powerhouse.. One of the most infectious melodies I have ever heard. Unfortunately it is virtually impossible to get a copy, but enough hours spent scouring e-bay might get you somewhere.
