"Highway to Saturn" by D-Pulse from Tirk02

Was on a little iTunes buying binge a few weeks back trying to update my collection beyond 1983. Found some nice contemporary jams browsing the eskimo catalog, terje files, and all those balearic wormholes. No idea who these guys are or where they are from, but I am loving this highway jammer. Funtimes bass poppin', classy cosmic synths, and a funny sit-com breakdown. Everything I need. Highway to Saturn

"Marina Del Rey" by Marc Jordan from Mannequin

This one was a highlight of the LA mix I made for this past weekend's shenanigans in the city of angels. As far as I know the only song about Marina Del Rey. So perfectly 1978, don't even mind the steel pans. Marina Del Rey

"我が心のピンボール" by Eiichi Ohtaki from A Long Vacation

What the hell is that genre already doing on the chimney? Oh well, to be expected I suppose. Picked this one up whilst record shopping, mostly based on the vibe of the cover. Kind of ELO meets Polnareff in 80s Japan. I dig the meandering vocal hook on this one. 我が心のピンボール

"L'Arrivee d'Emmanuelle" by Francis Lai from Emmanuelle 2

Can't get enough of these funky french folk. Finally got this in digital form from a sketchy eBay transaction. CD-r is pretty nice though, and made from the hella expensive cd version not some bunk ripped vinyl, so I can't complain. Love the bubbly rhodes styles on this. Gaubert!

"Les Fantasmes D'Emmanuelle" by Francis Lai from Emmanuelle 2

great spacy francis lai track from emmanuelle 2 (worth watching that lads, this music goes with a secen where she is getting acupuncture in her face and dreaming about getting it on with this young french dude). you gotta stick around for the end of this one... the most mind-meltingly beautiful slow horn bit drops in. like the most gorgeous Air, John Barry, Morricone, etc... check it at 4:02. Blows my brain and sends shivers up my back.
