"Ghetto Life" by Rick
from
Somehow i felt that it is way overtime to dedicate my man Rick James a track here on chimney...
Rick and me have a very long relationship so far, cause actually Rick got me into the Digging Soul and Funk stuff.
I remember a time when i was starting collecting vinyl, i only had Hip Hop records in my collection...
Suddenly the only record store around my place had put 4 used Rick James LP's next to the Hip Hop stuff, the only used LP's this store ever offered (-:
I took them along cause somehow i liked the man's hair cut (-:
I was so blasted by "Ghetto Life" that i stopped buying rap vinyl but had to get any soul/funk/disco record on the planet, though i did not know at that time, how hard this would become (-:
So i am sure you all know this one, but listen again to it how great it is
"Ebony Games" by Guy Cuevas
from Non LP, 12
Hi,
i searched and saw that we have one Guy Cuevas track already here on the board, the "Obsession" one.
The "Ebony Games" is much different, though i cannot really say which i like more.
I love the Prelude Disco feel from "Obsession", but this one here is much trippier somehow...
Once again only on 12", a pitty that this GUY has not made an whole LP
"Magic Touch" by Gang's Back
from Lies in Disguise
Sorry guys, been ages since i posted something, no excuse for that i can think of...
Here comes something happy for the weekend, always sets me in a state of happyness when listening to it...
It is from the second Gang's Back LP, much to rare for getting it on vinyl unfortunately...
If you like, a CD is available for cheap in the www....
Best song from the LP though, for my taste....
Looking forward to meet Taco and Bin tonight playing at the clubs !
Have a nice weekend !
"Ain't Nothin Like Makin Love" by Sir John Roberts
from Sophisticated Funk Orchestra
Hello Chimney's, how are you ?
Today is free over here in Germany because of the german reunion !
So this means Mitch does not feel extremely well this morning, because he looked too deep into the beer pin, crossed to white wine, continued to Prossecco, returned to shots and finished with Wodka Tonic....
Why am i telling you this ?
To be honest - no idea !
But i have a little present for you, and i hope you like it.
Yesterday i listened to the John Roberts LP on Venture again, which i had not been doing for quite a long time.
Nice solid LP but this very one track made my day !
To be honest, i consider this one as my fav song at the moment !
I told my girl when i creeped home last night: but somehow she disagreed (-:
"Love is the only Answer" by Spread Love- the disco vibrator aka Mitch (-:
from Existed only in my dreams...
Something very nostalgic today !
Our Microwave kinda exploded yesterday, i am alive but i had to get my old one from the attic of my parents house today...
Blazing story, but why am i telling you this ?
Well, when i today made my way up the dusty attic, it happended that i found an old Box that stored several cd's without cover in it, for which i had been looking for years now.
Those are the only relicts of my musical carreer- Yes little Mitch was dreaming of becoming a famous House producer nearly 10 years ago when Dimitri still spun his Abba records and Phat's and Small started to dream about covering Eric Mathew songs (-:
Hey - what's wrong with you, you looking kinda down to me...
Well you all know how Disco Filtered House was blowing up mainstream those days then...
My Equipment was poor, i had the first Emu Sampler, used Cubase on a slow machine and had an very oldshool looking Yamaha 8 Channel Deck for the mixdown...
Did not know how to play synth, but i had my records of course.
Damn i don't know how many nights i spent looking for the right drum sounds from Funk records, the right loops from disco 12" and for the perfect 2-Key -range samples till i thought i had a potential burner (-:
Now almost 8 years later, it gave me a strange thrill when i listened to my old works again.
How can one be so silly, to forget everything around him and sit for one week i a dark cellar room dreaming of becoming a star ?
Well i guess :
"Sure Shot" by Tracy Weber
from None 12
Today something for ya feet again !
I am sure many of you know, but since it has not made it's way to the chimney yet, i thought i give it a try...
It is among my top 5 dance records ever made, so i hope you can feel it.
It was a favourite of Levan, and this is speaking for itself in my opinion.
Plus a little "Youtube" bonus, that prooves, that even serious pop stars from today can give it up to a Levan bassline (-:
Please survive at least to the chorus in the youtube clip, then you will see what i mean

"New York, New York" by Starship Orchestra
from Celestial Sky
Something mellow this morning...
Never been there, but this song makes me wanna check it out !
Tell me, is there really such mellowness in this city that never sleeps (-:
Brainchild behind Starship Orchestra is Norman Connors and i actually bought this LP back in the days because of the alternative version of "You're a star", though the version on the Aquarian Dream "Fantasy" LP is somehow more apealing to me...
Anyway, i was blown away by this track, what a nice turn in style, if you check out the first bars...
Donald Bird goes Sting - well something like that al least
"Keep on lovin me" by Whispers
from Dunno
Just a short one for you today, a friend of mine gave me the link to this marvelous youtube clip...
Sometimes i feel i was born 20 years too late (-:

"Could heaven ever be like this" by Idris Muhammad
from Turn This Mutha Out
Inspired by Clunkified's Muhammad post, i thought another Idris track will do good as a weekend opener...
I always loved this track, though it is a pitty that it hasn't a bit more power in the bass and drums !
So i hope ya all have a fine time tonight and ask yourself
"I Bet'cha" by Butch Dayo
from 12
Going Oldschool today again, this time with one of my alltime boogie favs from Butch Dayo.
It is the same Butch that had out two LP's out with Vaughan Mason (Bounce, Rollerskate...) but though i cannot really enjoy Bounce anymore, i never get tired of playing this one !
Actually Butch could have left the Sax in the beginning at the wall, but who cares if the rest blows one away
