"I've Got Puredee" by Mel & Tim from Good Guys Only Win In The Movies

Mel & Tim coming so, so correct . This whole record killing me on this sunny day.

"Spyderbug" by The Inter-Urban A&E Pit Crew and Rhythm Band from Bug-In

Bug-In is/was an aural equivalent to the kind nugs that were so plentiful in Santa Barbara County in the mid-90s, when many of us Chimneys were residents there. This record became the holy grail for years until Ryan Chim finally found a copy somewhere, and it still stands the test of time as a ridiculous slice of stutter funk. If the car pumping the tune Sorcerer posted was a Delorean, a dunebuggy was most certainly ruling Spyderbug. Really hard to pick just one cut, they're all so deep.

 "Shuttlecocks" by Ashra from Blackouts

Such a proper album for what's feeling like the first day of summer. Looking forward to that Gottsching appearance in NYC in August. Maybe the occasion for a Chimney Acid Test? Put up the nets, get your racquets out, and feel free on those shuttlecocks .

 "All" by Acetone from Acetone

This album still holds up so well after so many years. Criminally underrated band that continues to bring the inspiration. Such the creaky electric tones.

"Let the Funk Flow" by EPMD from Strictly Business

It's mainly this and illmatic lately. Brain food.

"All" by Wings from Red Rose Speedway

I just turned in my last major work of the schoolyear. How did that happen? To celebrate, I'm jamming this Wings record that I had never heard before last week. SO good. Loving Henry McCullough's guitaring (dude deserves a post in his own right- he played in some sick bands and made an awesome solo record for Dark Horse). The heavy stony jams are killing it. I never thought I'd say it, but McCartney's stepping up in my book. Keep on sleeping in a big barn bed. Easily worth the dollar you would/could pay for this. Check out the McCullough/Macca sandwich below, circa RRS.

"All" by Erykah Badu from New Amerykah Part One (4th World War)

Just picked up this new Badu disc, and am blown away once again. I come back to her every few years and recall what a powerhouse she is. Pretty stoked that art music like this is still floating around popular consciousness.

"Summertime Anthem" by Mr. Capone-E from Not Even Sure

I've listened to this song possibly twenty times today. It's the best song I've ever heard , and goes really well with this long piece I'm writing on lowriding. That talkbox action kills me.

"Roll On Babe" by Ronnie Lane and Slim Chance from Anymore For Anymore

Ronnie Lane is my favorite member of the the Small Faces/Faces, and I knew a bit about his solo output, but was unaware that he had made a PERFECT record until a few days ago. This record has been blowing my mind in such a beautiful way, reaffirming an oft-forgotten notion that there is still so much crucial music out there that I've never heard. I understand "Anymore for Anymore" was recorded in the barn and various fields (you can hear kids and birds in the background of some tracks) surrounding Ronnie's farm in Wales after he left The Faces, and it has everything that I'm looking for in music these days: hope, beauty, sorrow, joy, imperfection. It's like a prayer.
