"System 80" by T. Durbet, H. Williams Verschu from Space Oddities: Rare European Library Grooves From 1975-1984

So happy to have stumbled upon this compilation on Permanent Vacation--so many more where this came from (hadn't seen that Ryan TOTD'd another track earlier this month)...

"Metal" by This Heat from Repeat

Fresh ambience after a long break from these guys...

"E.T. Boogie" by Extra T's from Sunnyview 12"

I think I like the vocoder-less instrumental more now that I've heard it, but the A-side's still fresh...

"Weeping Wall" by David Bowie from Low

"Art Decade" sold me on the Side B instrumentals, but this one's creepy jauntiness is pretty unique. The Duke mindmelds with the key melodies so well...

"Come Down To Earth" by Choice Four from RCA 12"

Was glad not only that the local dance 12" shop had the NYCC song I've been getting into, but that this solid track I'd never heard before was the flipside (the edit of this on the single's a long-ass 10:25 that brings the break back more than once, but this album version gives you the basic idea)...

"Africa" by Daryl Hall & John Oates from Voices

Wacky Diddley synth styles from Oates. Bought this for $1 for "Kiss On My List"...

"Classique #2 (at 33)" by Hercules And Love Affair from 12"

Was already set on TOTDing this before noticing what it would coincidentally sidle up near. Only just checked out these 12" tunes thanks to the domestic CD issue with them as bonus cuts, and this and "Roar" are both pared-down killers, but this acieed track sounds hilariously crunk screwed down slow (although without a rip you'll have to imagine it)...

"Jeans On" by David Dundas from Brutus Jeans ad jingle

Thanks to a fellow soft-rock-loving record store coworker for turning me on to this one. All about the slapback "ch-ch"s turning the beat around...

"Life Is Round" by Compost from Life Is Round

Just read about this album in the new Waxpoetics (the one with Herbie and Spoonie sharing the covers). Vibraslap jivetalk aplenty on this last track--don't slip on that slide whistle. "Beware of the savage clown..."
