"all" by Radiohead
from Live @ Greek LA
Digital Chimney and I went to this show on the 30th of June. We had pretty amazing seats right in the center. I was really impressed with some of the new songs they played. Of course Radiohead always puts on such an amazing show. Can't wait to hear Thom's solo project Eraser...hear it's pretty great.
"all" by Sigur Ros
from Live @ Coachella
The day couldn't have been more perfect. Rolled into La Quinta at noon. Had a few beers, smoked a joint, layed by the pool. Went to Coachella around 5:30/6, just as the sun was going behind the hills and it wasn't too hot. Kanye West performed right after we arrived. Then it was time for Sigur Ros. Had another joint, a few more beers and headed out onto the lawn to get a closer view of the Icelandic group. The lead singers voice is so insane...how he hits those high notes is beyond me. Playing his electric guitar with a violin bow. Electric violins and cellos in the background. Brought a few horns in for good measure. The crowd was chill and the show was incredible. Made the day perfect.
"all" by jose gonzalez
from live @ hotel cafe
last nights show at the hotel cafe was amazing. the place was dead silent as jose gonzalez lit up the stage with his melodic voice and rich acoustic guitar. I was able to snag a prime viewing spot and recorded much of it on video. i will try and upload it tonight at home. i was so impressed by the sound of his live performance which sounds so much like the album it's uncanny. he plays again tonight if you can find the time I would highly reccommend checking him out. you won't be let down.
"all" by Court & Spark
from Live @ the Mint
Little late on my post...went to this show last Thursday and was really impressed. They had the whole set-up going with Patrick on keys and everything. It was reminiscent of the great american show in December but sounded so great in such a small place like the mint. The sound just filled the crowded room with tons of energy. it was good to see all you guys. can't wait for the record release in may.
"all" by Hot Hot Heat, The Bravery, Death Cab for Cutie, White Stripes, Coldplay, Depeche Mode
from Live @ KROQ Acoustic Xmas @ Universal
working for the head WB records has its perks. like free tickets to sold out shows like this. Nada Surf opened which was pretty good I have to say, wasn't sure what to expect from them. Next up was Hot Hot Heat - blew me away with the performance aspect of there set. Death cab was great as usual. Then the Bravery which was great. Unfortunatley they made us sit through Jack Johnson for an hour. I almost fell asleep. Next was White Stripes, had never seen them live so it was a real treat. Perfection. Coldplay came next and they did a few acoustic Johnny Cash songs which were actually quite impressive. The entire place was singing Ring of Fire. Finally Depeche Mode. Wow. All the lights came up in the amphitheatre after there set and everyone started to leave and then they started to go down and it was a mad rush for the stage again. It was a long 6 hours at the place, but definitely worth it to see so many great bands.
"Hide & Seek" by Imogen Heap
from Speak for yourself
Every Saturday, Indie 103 has this program called Passport Approved where they play all new imports from England for 2 hours. A few weeks back I heard a song on the show and fell in love with it. They didn't annouce the name of it afterwards and it took 3 weeks for them to get the song list up on the website. Finally on Saturday I figured it out and downloaded the album from this girls site. Her voice in this song is fabulous. Harmonized tracks over each other with some fading for emotional effect. I swear i've listened to it 30 times over the past couple of days. Just can't get enough.
You can hear a 30 second clip here.
"*ALL*" by BECK
from Live @ Gibson Amphitheatre
I bought tickets to Beck months ago when they went on sale and got pretty good seats. Last week tho the CFO at my job said he had some connection and could get me tickets right up front with backstage passes. Fuck yeah! We sat second row center right behind the pit and had free booze all night in the backstage party lounge. This was an amazing show. His backup band was amazing. He did the raddest performance of 2 turn tables and a microphone (is that what it's called?) and one of the guys from the band kept bringing out boom boxes that got bigger and bigger everytime until a huge one came down from the ceiling. so rad. The energy was through the roof and the entire performance was flawless. He even brought up a huge group of fans from the audience to dance on stage with him. So fun, one of the best live shows I've seen.
"Passing By" by Zero 7
from When it Falls
I just got these rad little speakers set up at work and I can plug my iPod right into them. Very basic, but I'm really excited by them. I recently got a burned copy of this album and it's really starting to grow on me. I had always listened to Zero7 at my friends house at BBQ's and just hanging out but had never purchased an album of my own. This song has the female vocals and is just perfect. The lyrics are rad and her voice is gorgeous.
"Someone Saved My Life Tonight" by Elton John
from Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy
I just want to sing along to this song everytime I hear it. I was doing just that last night. Cruising around Venice with the sun roof open admiring the amazing moon last night and the perfect weather and blasting Elton John (hehe). God I love his shit. Now I'm on an Elton John kick, have to listen to Madman Across the Water and Tumbleweed Connection later.
"*all*" by Court & Spark
from Live @ Troubadour
Great show once again by the C&S. Got to hear a lot of new stuff that all sounded rad. I had never been to the Troubadour, great place to see a live show. I will try and post the photos I took later, they turned out really well.
