"all" by The Paul Horn Quintet from Cycle

Went 2 rounds w/ this one super late last night. The bagpipes are a surprise every time, and am never quite sure about those, but modal flute past midnight? Bring it on.

"all" by Ray Conniff And The Singers from You Are The Sunshine Of My Life

So much reverb throughout this one, and no complaints here. One of at least 3 Conniff albums from '73 ... those Muzaky arrangers were true machines.

"I'm Running" by Yes from Big Generator

So hittin' the spot today ... no apologies, no qualms.

"Stronger Than Before" by Carole Bayer Sager, Burt Bacharach from Sometimes Late At Night

Super nice KBA from Tarnoski recently on this one. Song's been covered by a myriad of artists since, all pretty much giving it the exact same arrangement, but this one's still the classiest. Such the Barry Gibb meets Toto chorus.

"all" by Roberto Cacciapaglia from Sei Note In Logica

First heard this last year, revisiting heavily again. Borrows from Reich, but blows him away in the process, IMVHO ... shifts gears exactly when it should. So recommended - all time cover, too. Dude's early discography pretty fascinating as well.

"Took The Last Train" by David Gates from Goodbye Girl

Saturday January 16, 2010

"Açaí" by Gal Costa from Fantasia

A handful of live versions to choose from, but this one hits it out of the park, plus its got style for miles.

"Dispersion of Sound Waves in Ice Sheets" by Andreas Bick from n/a

Waxy recently linked to this older post - ridiculously good. There's similar lightsaber sounds heard on Douglas Quin's stunning Antarctica disc, but always figured those were fighting Rebel Fleet whales. Knope.
Also, RIP Teddy & Yabby.

"Video Killed The Radio Star" by Bruce Woolley and The Camera Club from English Garden

So crazy to not have heard of this until recently ... Dolby on keys, as supposedly Hans Zimmer's in there, too.
