"Disco To The No. 1" by Emma Dorgu
from Song Of Life
Pretty nice tune that smoothly gets you after several lisnings' It never peaks to higher levels but that is the quality of it. He collected here a serious group of artists that had their shit already on some serious records. So probably he had a very good idea which way the sound should go.
for Zeroy *)
"I'm High (Could Touch The Sky)" by Matthew Maguma
from We Wanna Be Free

"Mensan Makyi (Dont Look Back In Life)" by Tony Safro & His Funkii Afrosibi
from Ebeye Yie (It Will Be Alright)

"Don't Stop Till You Get Enough / Sunmomi Famomi (Yoruba Version)" by Bola Bimbola
from Silifa Bamijo

"May Be It's Time I Let You Know" by Dennis Mac David
from Bugalulu
This nice track by Dennis MacDavid from his first Bugalulu Lp keeps me shaking my head for some time. The fat drums and guitar with his screamin' vox are just me wanting more! The other tracks on this 1978 Nigerian production are kinda crazy experimental stuff that does not compute with most records born in that time and place. His second Bugalulu -Computerman has even more weird tracks with organ and trumpet ..but they all groove like hell! Really one of a kind that Dennis ..always wonder what those people had in mind when making this kind of statements, as it was far more easy to make some funk boogie hitrecord.
"Ye Disco Kiahai" by Harridath Jairam
from Larki Ke Bhud Pakril Hai
what can i say .. how much fun can yah have with some modules and a voice box. rare gemm, 80's dutch release by Hindostaan artist Harridath Jairam + group (Hindostaan=Indian community in Suriname) ..dunno, me like with a smile
Moroder meets Bollywood? discodiscodiscodiscoooo
mo info , groovy suit btw.
"Kronto" by Happy Boys
from 7" Fajalobie Records FLS 41006 1977
for the Dutch chimneys here a funny version of "cokane in my Brain" by the Happi Boys from the cradle of Stan Lokhin. Two things of Suriname come here together in this track, and as this track aint on the album a great historical gemm, Suri-funk with a big smile.
Spell gi mi Paramaribo ?
