"La De Da" by Link Wray from Link Wray

MCT passed me this and i finally got around to checking it out last week. Turns out it sounds great when - squeezing 700 liters of lime juice - cutting 1000 lime wheels - eating whiskey soaked beignets at 9 am after staying up the night before until 6 am drinking absinthe in the streets.
unfortunately for me i didnt see much of new orleans in the daylight. working from 8am until 6pm wasn't exactly my idea of a nice trip to new orleans, but me and the other fools who got stuck batching thousands of cocktails for the convention were thankful that we were allowed to replace the chinese christian music with stone groovers like this here tune.

"Converted/ Le Radiateur" by Cosmo Vitelli from 12"

The beatbroker got added to this afterhours party tonight with this guy and clunks pal jonas reinhardt. i'd given this cosmo fool many chances in the past and never liked a thing. thank goodness for myspace because i went on there and checked out his new tunes and i cant stop listening. nice to have fridays off once in awhile - looking forward to a late night hanging with some old friends including OG chim biglargelex - who just happens to be in town.

"Izarharh Tenere" by Tinariwen from Aman Iman

Thanks to MCT for flowing me over 30 albums of deep grooves from his deep collection. First to emerge was this album i'd heard so much about and totally forgotten. Whole album is as he put it " Really, Really rad " but this tune has been hittin me just right over past few days. . . hypnotizing, drone jam that never fails to make me close my eyes. Truly one of the most beautiful songs i've heard. . . even though i've no idea what he's singing about.
EDIT - cant seem to fix the file under. . . so although that 'd' didn't originally stand for DAH! it does now.

"Watussi" by Harmonia from Musik von Harmonia

Picked this up along with deluxe yesterday at amoeba east bay . . . popped it in the rental car stereo with mr. mooner and his lovely new wife poly. . . perfect first track with that great fast yet slow shuffling gallop rhythm. nice image there of a family of watussi . . .

"Bounce" by TimbaLand from Shock Value

songs got me cracking up over here . . . think we got JT telling some girl to bounce "like your ass has the hiccups?" which is hilarious. Later i'm cracking up again when i think i heard JT say "menawjaytwah?" this time i'm more laughing at him than with him - sounds so stupid. Then we get Missy claimin "like britney spears i wear no drawers" CLASS. love the break at the end when you can get a real good listen to a few of the elements that sounded much different when combined with everything else. . . think that might actually be a sample of a girl with the hiccups? loving timbaland's style.

"Now is the Time" by Gary Windo from Flotsam Jetsam

took a few month off from the world of scouring mp3 blogs for free downloads and now that i've come back everyone has advanced to posting full albums - which is nice. found this on a robert wyatt retrospective/rarities type release. so far loving this funky saxy cruiser featuring wyatt and a guy who's worked with everyone from matching mole to the psychedelic furs, to NRBQ and even Saturday night live. my vote for 'which gary?'

"Little Dreamer" by Van Halen from Van Halen

not cruising in car but cruising on bicycle. used to bike home after a long night of work with headphones on . . . realized that was a bit unsafe and had to bike without tunes for a few years. now that i have one of these fancy mp3 playing phones i can once again garner inspiration from triumphant jams like this one to help me pedal home. this little cellphone conveniently placed in the pocket attached to my bag strap sits close enough to my ear while still allowing me to hear the traffic around me. nice little lightweight boombox.

"Totem" by Klaus Schulze from Picture Music

classy, endless jam that morphs from one baked and bubbling synth-fest to a another.

"Prepare to Energize" by Torch Song from 12" Single

recently caught the ever classic film 'bachelor party' and had a feeling a crazy long lost 80's synth jam like this one was coming. sure enough this track came on and made me watch through all the credits. turns out it's an old william orbit project. also turns out my internet scouring skills aren't very good as i cant seem to find this mp3 anywhere. lil help would be nice.
