"Out to Lunch" by Datashat
from Shatnereffekt One EP
Datashat's "Out to Lunch" kind of reminds me of a futuristic montage scene from an early 80s HK movie.

"High Priestess (Tarot Session)" by Karma
from
Off the first installment of the Future Sound of Jazz Compilation, comes a catchy little samba tune which reminds me of the weekly Compost Records nights at the Muffathalle. Would also work well in any grocery store. High Priestess

Jackie Blue
I was going to post Seals and Crofts - Summer Breeze as part of my good-for-highway themed play list of Soft Rock hits, but I noticed that Jackie Blue wasn't mentioned yet. Other song recommendations are welcome.
"Black Star" by Tokyo Black Star
from Beyond the Future
Another great release on the fairly new Innervisions Label. This time, Alex from Tokyo and Isao Kumano are taking us to the golden age of deep house. Somewhat oldschool sounding but with lots of soul. Think of Larry Heard - What About This Love, or Nu Groove. Black Star
"La Soupe Aux Choux - Title" by Vladimir Cosma
from La Soupe Aux Choux Soundtrack
This is the title melody of my first movie at a theater, La Soupe Aux Choux. Maybe there are some people out here who remember Louis De Funes who made anger (non-)management look pretty funny in his movies.

"The End" by Change
from The Glow Of Love
One of the most beautiful Space Disco tracks doesn't come from some concept album with a space ship on the cover.
And it's also hard to believe that Luther Vandross used to be in this band. But I always imagine that The End would be a track that the Pet Shop Boys would have created if they were disco producers from '78. Makes a great soundtrack to late night driving.

"It's Only Me" by Bob James
from Hands Down
Ahhhh, isn't it great to know one special feel-good song? I originally picked up Hands Down for the track Spunky which was sampled by Moodymann in Shades of Jae. But the real gem is definitely It's Only Me, an odd mix of Fusion Jazz and Italo, maybe a little "Yacht". It also seems that each synth solo part is perfectly placed and never noodled... Bob
