"Superspirit" by Junie Morrison
from George Clinton Family Series Pt. 2
Superspirit
As a member of the Ohio Players, Junie Morrison co-wrote, arranged and produced the albums Pain, Pleasure and Ecstasy during the early 1970’s. His impact propelled the band toward a new high with tracks like Singin’ In The Mornin’ and their first platinum hit Funky Worm.
Morrison followed this success in the late 1970’s and early 80’s by writing, producing and performing on more than ten classic albums with George Clinton and Parliament-Funkadelic, credited both as himself and as alter-ego J. S. Theracon, while spawning the hits One Nation Under a Groove, Theme from the Black Hole, (Not Just) Knee Deep, and Let’s Play House, just to name a few.
His solo works include the early 70s experimental projects When We Do, Freeze and Suzie Super Groupie which were created after his stint with the Ohio Players. Junie continued his experimental side with three more critically acclaimed projects during the 1980s, namely, Bread Alone, Junie 5 and Evacuate Your Seats. Junie’s latest album project, released on his own JunieFunk Recordings label, is entitled When The City and is his first solo work after nearly two decades.
