"Stairs to Space" by Analog Basement from Basement Sessions (circa 2002?)

Inspired by some other feel frees today I dug up this track from the archives. One of the first times playing around with software synths this was the native instruments prophet-5 emulator (unlicensed as you can hear in the occasional bleeps in the background). Just a spacey take on the classic.

"Bottles and Bones" by Califone from Roomsound

I've had Stranger Than Fiction on the DVR for a long time and finally got around to watching it last night. Very surprised to hear this great track included. The Ooohs in this one get me every time.

"Angels At My Gate" by Manfred Mann's Earth Band from Angel Station

"58, 56, 54..." Not sure what they are referring to but the Earth Band channeling Peter Gabriel on this spacey dark alley tune. Even snuck in a talk box solo.

"Prelude (Part Two)" by Miles Davis from Agharta

"While Pangaea is awesome as well, there is simply nothing like Agharta in the canon of recorded music. This is the greatest electric funk-rock jazz record ever made -- period. " (allmusic)

"Inside All The People (Harvey's Sleepy Ibiza Mix)" by Planet Funk from Steve Terry H-track Mix

Going through some of the old mixes up on H-Track and the Steve Terry Theme mix in the Afternoon Sessions section getting some repeats recently. Each time doing a rewind to repeat this interstellar bliss out. Thanks to the wonders of Shazam was able to ID it. This is clipped straight from the mix and is only half the length of the original. Anyone KBA the full track?

"Absynth" by Woolfy vs Projections from The Return Of Starlight

Found this hazey disco drifter in this excellent soft n slow mix. Sounds best when you are trying to do as little as possible which has been a good idea with the temperature nearing triple digits in NYC the past few days. You can almost see the haze rising when this track comes on.

"And Through The Wire" by Peter Gabriel from III (Melt)

This track got about 20 spins yesterday. Gabriel doing it pretty straight by his standards but such a great rockin tune featuring Paul Weller of The Jam on guitar. Sounds perfect for the ending of a movie from the final fadeout to the titles. I'm picturing a convertible heading out into the distance just before sunset and fading from view.
And Through The Wire.

Interesting side note - apparently no cymbals were used on this album.
