"Keleya" by Moussa Doumbia
from
The night is always darkest before the dawn. Think spring is finally here today, and I can feel winter and the dark leave us for another year. Heeeeeeeeeeeeyyyyyyyyyyyyy!

"Empty Houses" by Garry Schyman
from Bioshock
Well. By the genre listing, this may not be the first. But I figured, there are the odd film soundtrack music scores/references every once in a while, but nothing from the world of videogames.
So, in an attempt to widen the berth, a track from Bioshock.
If your not a gamer or as it was for me; a late gamer to this particular game, then it may fall on deaf ears(!) but Bioshock is a game that re-ignited why I played games, or even worked in the games industry (for a while). It's a beautiful written, well crafted piece of work.
Its a potentially affecting journey, with some amazing Ayn Randian philosophy jumbled in, with a late 50s melancholy to it. I just found out they released a bunch of the tracks from the game, but the game also had, ambiently throughout the story, lots of Bobby Darin, Django Reinhart, Billie Holiday in it too...
This track kinda gets over the sunken, repressed, dead feeling that permeates through the story. Indulge me...

Can't get over how old this track actually is. Or can I? There is just something...about it that is so fresh...

"Jimmy Adja" by Disco Dancer

A Happy New Year to all Chimneys! Happy to have a new year and a new start. Happy to have this beauty back on the go. Just god damn happy. This has been beating around my head the last wee while.
"Ramba Ho Samba Ho" by Usha Uthup
from Armaan
Just come back from the hills of Andalucía, where my brother blasted this continually, from Scotland to Spain via London. Absolute belter - I love the sly transplant of I Feel Love in there for good measure...but nothing beats 3 pissed up scots wandering the Spanish countryside at night shouting Ramba Ho!
"Everybody's Gotta Live" by Love
from How To Kill The DJ, part 2
Absolutely perfect end to anything.
Traditionally, the last track at my favourite club night in the world: Optimo in Glasgow.
But in this case, the last track of the week for me.
Now all together now...
"The Visitors" by ABBA

Couldn't really say I was the biggest fan of ABBA. I could never shake off some of their big hits that clouded over some amazing tracks...like this beauty . But this shines through for me!
"Our Mutual Friend" by The Divine Comedy
from Absent Friends
Story of my life...If my life was a beautifully executed mid-90s British Pop narrative.
Part of my re-discovery of The Divine Comedy, I just think this is just a sublime piece of pop music. TOTD .
