"On Form and Growth" by Turing Machine from A New Machine For Living

was super shocked and saddened yesterday when i read about jerry fuchs. i saw turing machine play at north sixth randomly a few years back while i was at a show for a band i can't recall. i remember being so stoked on their whole set though, and then being blown away at the end when they finished by doing a can song. i would see that dude out in brooklyn here and there at shows and was seriously star struck every time, thinking of how gnarly his drumming was at that show. all the best to his friends and family

"first gymnopedie" by yusef lateef from psychicemotus

this album is rad, james black's drumming is perfect as far as i'm concerned. could have put a number of tracks up from it, but i figured i'd go with this one. love hearing those drums behind this beauty.

 "news" by tune-yards from bird-brains

from a recent album of crazy lo-fi folk-pop recorded on a digital voice recorder using a lot of ukulele and some nice vocal phrasing. this one sounds like it could soundtrack a scene of dancing with monsters around a fire on the beach from where the wild things are. the rest of the album is all over the place, its worth checking out.

"First Rays of the New Soma Sunrise (Calmer Remix)" by STS9 from Peaceblaster (The New Orleans Make It Right Remixes)

my friend collin palmer letting loose and feeling free on his drum set as usual. not sure what the original is like, but the remix is unmistakably calmer.

"camel (nosaj thing remix)" by flying lotus from la ep 2 x 3

it was crowded and hot as hell at love last night, and it also smelled like everyone in there had been bathing in campbell's soup for the past week...but flying lotus was well worth putting up with it. that guys got some serious talent, and it was pretty damn rad to see him play. this track is a scorcher from his remix e.p. i haven't transferred his new 12" yet, but i highly recommend picking it up.
