Stephen Malkmus "No More Shoes" from Face The Truth

Alright, now this is what I like to hear from a Stephen Malkmus record – wicked, wicked soloing. I got this record yesterday and was kind of taken aback by the Fiery Furnaces-ness of it. Maybe it’s just me, maybe it’s just the synths. I don’t know. But this track, this is the track. The melody seems to be taken from a mixture of Kiss’ “I Was Made For Loving You” and some Fleetwood Mac song that my brain is letting my have access to. The music is all psych-folk-prog bridged between big, bad cock-of-the-walk guitar heroics. The only part that I don’t totally love is the end where he shouts something like “I want my Alka-Seltzer!” Okay, sure. Me, too.

his solo records are really good. people wanted him to be pavement part two, but he went a different way, into some proggy stuff. was amazed at this dude's guitar playing live. singing and playing all the lead lines......mcshred.
i'm starting to think so. the more i listen, the more I'm digging up the goodness. I've liked all of his solo records, so maybe I'm biased. But yeah, I'd say it's good stuff through and through.
whoa, cool song. the drumming is good. taking the rock to where it needs to be. great riffing. is the rest of this any good?
still have a soft spot for this joker. i give the pavement reunion tour another two years.
