This track was the unofficial anthem to my college radio show 6-8am sunday mornings back in 95. Amongst all the usual indie/college rock tunes and jam band funk this was one of the few records we were "encouraged" to play that ever made it into our rotation. Drum and bass from dudes in Tortoise and Wilco, respectively, and just a real individual take on the sound of the funk.

i freaked out when i saw the reels for this album in my house...... lived with the bach for 3 years. one of those albums that convinced me to move to chicago. pretty great stuff.

Nice! No I was not in 5ive Style. I repped em on DC before and I just love that record. LOVE IT! They won me over forever when I saw them open for Sea and Cake/Tortoise wayyyy back in the day. They might have come in the underdogs, but I walked away a fan for life. I remember them winding down from one tune, and the one dude yelling "Now! Do it Now!", and then they dropped the riff from Deep Marsh! Classic. Unforgettable. Respect.

...great song and still a hoot to hear Bill claim he's "sampling" Jimmy Page. Chim con: just before I awoke I had a dream of Mike Kinsella telling me how much he's been into "Miniature Portraits" lately and me telling him I had better versions of all the songs. (not true with this album although Bill came over once and was screwing around with my four track. I added some stuff, thought nothing of it. A few months later say hello to "Freddy Flakeout"! (not "my" version of course)) I think this is the only "old" tune they'll still do...
